A DEEPER LOOK INTO THE ART AND SCIENCE OF OUR BOURBON

Welcome to the other forty nine

Bourbon law dictates that the mashbill must contain a minimum of 51% corn to be called Bourbon, but we believe it is the art and science of the aging and blending process that makes The Other 49 ours. It requires a deep understanding how barrels age each season, what flavors come from the hot Texas summers and cool winters, and how each hand selected barrel composition can change the balance of the blend.

A MASTER’S TOUCH

Our Master Blender meticulously blends several Texas-aged single barrels with the intent of maintaining the highest level of consistency batch after batch. Because when you sip our bourbon, you aren’t just tasting a spirit. You’re experiencing an intricate dance of grains, a legacy of aging and blending, and the unwavering dedication to honesty, transparency, and honestly good bourbon.

A NOTE FROM OUR MASTER BLENDER

The Other 49 bourbon is aged and blended using time-honored traditions.

This means our bourbon is naturally aged over seasons in charred oak barrels. As the seasons change year after year, the aging process is how we create our honestly good bourbon. During hot summers, the spirit expands into the wood and soaks up its unique flavor and color. As the weather turns cool, the liquid contracts back into the barrel, and the oak and flavor notes are extracted.

This method also pulls natural fatty acids and esters into the bourbon, giving it a flavorful and velvety finish. We choose to leave these flavor notes in the bourbon for you to enjoy.

Sometimes these fatty acids and esters can form clouds in the bottle which are harmless and often appear in premium aged spirits.

Simply move the bottle around, and the clouds will disappear from view but not from your tasting experience. This way we save the most flavorful notes for you to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
